Holding UK inventory is one of the practical challenges of selling into the UK market from overseas. Setting up your own warehouse operation requires capital, logistics contracts, staffing and ongoing management. Using a third-party logistics provider means another supplier relationship, another contract, and another potential gap in your supply chain.
For clients who manufacture with us, we hold stock on site as a natural extension of the production relationship. Components come off the line, through finishing and inspection, and into stock — all in the same building. There's no transfer between facilities, no additional handling risk, and no separate warehousing invoice to manage.
How It Works
Most clients using our warehousing do so on a call-off basis. You place a production run order covering a defined period of demand, we run the production, hold the stock, and dispatch against your call-off instructions. You maintain a UK inventory position without holding UK warehouse space yourself.
We report on stock levels and flag when a replenishment run needs scheduling — typically with enough lead time to avoid stockouts without you needing to monitor our inventory systems directly.
Buffer Stock
For clients with seasonal demand patterns or unpredictable order flows, we can hold buffer stock above your minimum operating level. This absorbs demand spikes without requiring emergency production runs, which are disruptive and expensive for both parties.
Buffer stock levels are agreed at the outset of the supply relationship based on your demand history or forecast. They're reviewed regularly and adjusted as the relationship develops.
Practical Considerations
Our warehousing is designed for the kind of volumes that make sense as an extension of a manufacturing relationship — not pallet-count based third-party logistics. If your UK inventory requirement involves thousands of pallet positions and complex WMS integration, we're probably not the right fit and we'll say so. If you need a sensible, managed stock position close to your UK customers as part of a manufacturing and fulfilment relationship, that's exactly what we offer.
Our facility in Syston sits close to the M1 and M69, giving straightforward access to the national carrier network and same-day or next-day coverage across most of the UK.
